WIP Wednesday!

… or where the heck have I been??

I’ve been spending less time on the computer as of late, but never far from my hooks!

I was frantic for a gift for my dad.
I decided a hat! But what kind of hat??
After scoring some good finds of Jiffy yarn, I whipped up a hat w/ it.
Nice & Warm – great… but it 100 degrees outside!

So- I sulked. Then grabbed my RH Super Saver and just started crocheting a hat. No pattern. I like the end result!

I wrote the pattern down as I worked it and hope to offer it here soon. I want to get a few testers first.
The pattern will be free. 😎

In other news, I’ve scored big on yarn the past few weeks!
I got cottontots, Light & Lofty & a skein of Homespun on clearance for $2/ea. at Walmart.
Then I caught Jiffy, Wool Ease & Sayelle on clearance at Michael’s for $1/ea.
I went back to both places today & found 3 skeins of Boucle for $1.50 ea(Walmart) & Homespun for $3 ea.(Michaels)

Heaven!!!!!!!!!

As for the WIP part of WIP Wednesday, I just finished a hat for my cousin’s little girl. I’ll be making the other part of the set this week.

I’m also starting the throw for my Father & his wife’s gift.
I may make some smaller items along the way, too, but the big thing will be the throw.
I’ve decided on the gift for my MIL & her DH, too. It’s a pattern from the last issue of Simply Creative Crochet. Best part is that I’ll be able to use scrap yarn for it, I think!

I have another baby blanket to make. TWO, actually. An old friend from high school is due soon with her sixth. When she was pregnant with her first (now 13), I crocheted her a HIDEOUS baby blanket.
I can’t remember the yarn I used or anything, just that it was super soft, (mohair, maybe), and horribly misshapen! We laughed about it yesterday. It was perfect for swaddling, cuz one end was narrow and she just tucked it around her baby. 😆

Back then, I never read a pattern (didn’t know how), nor checked my guage, or knew hooks had sizes!
I promised her that my skills have improved greatly since then, and she won’t have to hide this one like she did with the other!
Now, to find that perfect pattern…

I think I may make my Stepdaughter another blanket. She found out Monday that she will be having another boy! 🙂 She’s not happy, but she’s not depressed like she was the last time, so that’s a good thing 😉

Still seeking the perfect shawl pattern. I have 2 aunts that I think would LOVE a shawl!
Oh, I forgot to report on the seraphina shawl. Beautiful item, complicated pattern.
I got to row 11 before things really went to pot! 😥
I’ve walked away from it for now.
I didn’t frog it (as my first instinct begged me to), so it’s possible later to resurrect it.
If you’ve made this shawl & can offer help, please let me know!

Welp, I think I’ve blabbered on long enough. I won’t be away for a week again! I promise! 😀
