Wahoo – I took my son down to Michael’s today for their Yarn Event. They had the fastest crocheter and fastest knitter contests, and my son and I entered.
We had 3 minutes to dc a square that was 20 across.
They provided the yarn, and hook, but I brought my own (of course, any good crocheter always does, right? π )
So, we’re off. There were a total of 4 of us competing. At the end of the 3 minutes, there was a victory!
Was it the older woman who’d been crocheting since the 60s? How about the woman from Brazil who’d been crocheting (and knitting) since she was 6?
Nope – it was a 13-yr-old BOY who just happens to live in my house! That’s right – my son, T, won!!!!!!
How awesome is that?! They announced his name over the PA at Michael’s, which embarrassed him (a little), but he walked proud with his winnings – a basket with yarn, hooks, and other paraphenalia (sp).
I’m sooooooooooo proud of him. Then he looks at me, and says, “Now, the student has become the teacher!” π
thats AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to him..
