It’s been a few days since I’ve posted, so I thought I’d post one big fat one today. Tee Hee
This week started with a bang – we’ve been doing some serious door-knocking! 🙂 I had a long day yesterday. I (well, it was my youngest and my son, and I) worked with a Pioneer sister, and got a long day in! My other daughter was privileged to work with TWO pioneer sisters! That was a treat for all 3!
I didn’t buy anything new to wear for the Memorial tonight, which kinda bummed me, but I did whip up a skirt late last night. I had to dig through my stash for some fabric, so I look at it as a freebie!
I also whipped up a cute little dress for “Face“!? I surprised her with it by hanging it on her closet door, so she’d see it when she woke up!? Her response, “Oh, mommy… I love it!”
“Flower Picker” has a new skirt and top to wear, so that takes care of the ladies.
Number One Son has been working this week, in between pioneering, so he’s got a few dollars in his pocket.? He went to do some odd jobs at a sister’s home, and she gave him about 10 new ties!? Her sons are older now, so she gives most of their hand-me-downs to #1 son.? He gets so excited when she gifts him that way! So, he’s looking forward to wearing a new tie tonight.? Oh, and he gave the Posse King a new tie, too, so we’re all going to look smashing, dahling!
FLOWER GARDEN – Monday afternoon was spent weeding the flower beds.? While #1 son hates this, I somewhat enjoy it.? This year more than last because, well, the weeds aren’t as bad.? We laid lots of mulch last year, and it really helped!? We took a trip to Lowe’s and I bought some clearance plants, plus a new hibiscus.? My other one didn’t come back. 🙁
I adopted some Peppermint leaves and something called Louisiana Phlox.? They’re invasive, which is perfect for my space around the tree in my front yard!? I sure hope they invade! :-D? The Posse King brought me some Petunias and Marigolds, so I’ve put most of them in the ground.
The weird weather we’re having has caused my Pansies some confusion!? I rotate Pansies and Petunias in Spring & Fall, because, since they’re seasonal, one crop is usually dead when it’s time for the new season.? But my Pansies aren’t ready to go yet!? They’re actually THRIVING!? So there’s no room for my petunias in my wheelbarrow display in the front yard.
We had a frost Monday night/Tuesday morning, but that’s supposed to be the last.? Yesterday, it was 83!? Go figure!
Whew – we officially have a whole lot going on out there!? The drip irrigation system … I’m not sure if it’s a success or not.? I’ve fiddled with it’s configuration so many times, that I’m amazed the pipes haven’t all broken!? I have pictures, I don’t know why I haven’t posted them.
At any rate, all the tomatoes that we started from seed died.? The peppers never started.? Nor the muskmelon or eggplant.? (Seeds may have been too old).? I wanted to do the Square Foot Gardening method, but I seem to have some evil adaptation of it… It’s more like intercrop-square foot-row planting-organic gardening.? Hmm – good place for an acronym, let’s see…
IS-FROG!? Intercropping Square-foot/Row Organic Gardening!
I’m a genius!
Well, true to my word, school’s been light.? The girls and I did go over 5 more states on Tuesday, which I think brings us up to 15.? Slow and steady, right?
Well, that sorta sums things up so far.? Tomorrow is another service day.? We have 2 Bible Studies to go on, so that should be fun!
In closing, I wanted to post something I got in an email today.? It’s a story called “The Brick”
A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar.
He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.? As his car passed, no children appeared.
Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag’s side door!? He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown.
The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, ‘What was that all about and who are you?? Just what the heck are you doing?? That’s a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money.? Why did you do it?’
The young boy was apologetic.? ‘Please, mister…please, I’m sorry but I didn’t know what else to do,’ he pleaded. ‘I threw the brick because no one else would stop…’? With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car..
It’s my brother, ‘he said ‘He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can’t lift him up.’
Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, ‘Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair?? He’s hurt and he’s too heavy for me.’
Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat.? He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts.? A quick look told him everything was going to be okay.
‘Thank you and may God bless you,’ the grateful child told the stranger. Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.
It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar.? The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door.
He kept the dent there to Remind him of this message:
‘Don’t go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!’
Jehovah whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts.? Sometimes when we don’t have time to listen, Jehovah has to throw a brick at us.
It’s our choice to listen or not.
Thought for the Day:
* If Jehovah had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
* If Jehovah had a wallet, your photo would be in it.
* Jehovah sends you flowers every spring.
* Jehovah sends you a sunrise every morning, face it, brother – Jehovah loves you!
Jehovah did not promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but Jehovah did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and a light for the way.
Read this line very slowly and let it sink in:
If Jehovah brings you?to it, He will surely bring you through it!
