Goin’ on a Treasure Hunt…

Tee Hee (Dora the Explorer is stuck in my head, sorry!) ;-)

Anyway, that was my way to say we're studying the United States!  These last few weeks of school will be an abbreviated version.  Just enough to whet the appetite.  What I'm thinking is, there are 50 states (plus DC), and 52 weeks in a year...  well, the math works out in my head somehow,  :-S  so I'm going with that.  Anyway, here's what I'm hoping:

I would love to lapbook/scrapbook this, and I'm going to ask around our congregation and one of my homeschool groups for postcards!  It'd be really great to get a postcard from each state for the girls to include in their books.  I haven't told them this idea yet, so I think the surprise element would be an added bonus! :-D

If anyone would like to send us postcards with their state name somewhere on it, please contact me!

I have a cookbook about the 50 states, so I see some cuisine in our future.  It seems lately, the girls have taken a real interest in cooking.
They totally get that from the Hubs, cuz I am not a cook!
I was asked the other day if my issue with cooking was:

  1. no interest
  2. no skills
  3. no time
  4. no drive

Well, I gave it some thought, and here's what I came up with:
While I love to eat, and I love the idea of cooking, I can't stay focused enough to see a meal through to fruition.  :-S

I'm great at one-pot meals.  Yanno, dump and go!  Casseroles and Crock pot meals are truly the best inventions mankind has come up with! :-D

Hubby does most of the cooking here.  It was a sort of pre-marriage agreement.  He's really, really good at it.
I've slowly started cooking - like on meeting nights, but, well (see the above greatest invention of mankind statement above.)

I'm glad my girls are enjoying the learning process of cooking.  Even #1 son is interested in cooking!  Yay!  At least he won't starve once he's ready to leave the nest!  I'm not seeing that for quite some time, though.
Wow - I just pictured him in diapers!  He's too young to go! :-(

Ahem - anyway - that's the latest from my brain. What's up with y'all?
