July is the “NEW” August!

After living in Louisiana for many years, I’ve come to realize that the hotter-than-the-Devil’s-home temperatures in July are as ungodly as the hotter-than-the-Devil’s-home temperatures in August.

So, what does this all mean?
Well, I made it one full week into my yarn diet. I was doing good! REALLY!
I went to Walmart last weekend with the family, and walked RIGHT passed the fabric department! :-D

Yesterday, the girls and I went to get supplies for our homeschool, (which I’m very excited about, I must say!), and I went down the clearance aisle.
Yeah, our WM has an aisle dedicated to clearance — and the last time I hit it, they had tons of Cotton Tots! I love Cotton Tots!

Anyway, they had 3 skeins of Homespun. I picked 2 of them up, but the third one had gotten tangled around all kinds of stuff. I wrestled with it for a bit and decided to let it go. It wasn’t meant to be.

Then the image on my right shoulder( :afro: ) said, “Now you know you’re not supposed to be getting this!” and the image on my left shoulder ( )said, “but you can buy it and give it away! Yarn swap — Hello!??” She had a point, so, I agreed.

Then, I hit the fabric dept. and lost my mind!!! All the Cotton Tots that had been in the clearance section was in a shopping buggy in the fabric dept. marked down EVEN MORE!!!!!!!! :-o
It was $1/skein!!! I pillaged! (is that how you spell that?)
They had one skein of Fun Fur. I have wanted to try it, but not at $4.80+ each… but, then :afro: said, “Uh — it’s only $1!!!!!!! That’s not a purchase, that’s a rescue. It doesn’t count!!!!!!!” :yay:

So after all was said and done, I walked out with 12 skeins of rescued yarn. ;-)

It’s a shame, too — cuz I didn’t stop at just 12.
Later in the day, I went to the Goodwill. I found a package of various vintage yarns, and scarfed it, too.
So, all tolled, I am now the happy mommy to 18 “new” skeins of yarn.
But since more than half is going to be swapped…

Curses, who am I fooling? My diet is busted! I’m weak! I can’t handle ‘no fiber diets!‘
I should aim for LOW fiber diets! WoMAN can’t live on bread alone!

Now — after all that, and the guilt pounds that have already started to appear, I used some Cotton Tots to make E a kerchief.
She absolutely loves it!
I’m working on R’s right now.
DH helped me sort my stash into ‘colors that would go well in an afghan together’, to help in my low fiber diet!

I have at least 5 ghans that I can make with what I’ve currently got.
I just need to start them, so I feel like I don’t have a need for more.

Addiction sucks… sometimes!!
