Jane, you ignorant… knit wit!

Ok, so I'm watching Oprah yesterday, and a commercial for the Jane Pauley show comes on.
It's all about crafters. *yay*
She mentions that knitting is the "new yoga", because younger and younger people are picking up needles. Great... then I watched the show today. GLUED to the TV. Turned off the phones, the whole shebang!

I was shocked to see Lily Chin, the world's fastest crocheter as her first guest. I thought, hmmm, she's obviously going to mention something about CROCHET.

I didn't know that she was a knitter as well. I had only heard her name associated with crochet and books on crochet

The only mention of crochet was the fact that she's the world's fastest crocheter.

Now, I'm not trying to start a Knit vs. Crochet debate, cuz that was started years and years ago.
I've tried several times to knit... can't do it. I can/do crochet... and I'm happy with that.
Things that do irritate me:

  • calling a crocheted item knit
  • calling a crocheter a knitter
  • blowing it all off as "same thing!"

So, what's all this about?
When will crochet be the new yoga??? We have tons of celebrity sisters (and brothers) who are workers with yarn and a hook.
Vanna White, Rosie Perez, Raven Simone...

I've been crocheting off and on for over 20 years. That makes me feel old, but I'm only 33! There are a ton of people in my age bracket that are learning the beautiful art of crochet. Where's our day in the sun?!

Ok... vent over.
We will now return you to your regularly scheduled blog. ;-)

For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and [their] marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart.
